NOMADX SUMMITS

Nomadx summits combine local creative talent with national and international minds to generate a fun, unifying environment that fosters professional growth for creatives. Nomadx has two major types of events: in-person hybrid events and digital events.

Dive into a world where creativity and innovation converge, bringing together a vibrant tapestry of creative entrepreneurs, artists, and thought leaders from across the globe. The Nomadx Summits are not merely events; they are a celebration of creativity, a forum for groundbreaking discussions where ideas blossom, collaborations are born, and the future of the creative industry is sculpted.

The Nomadx Foundation began only with live, in-person events in 2015. Events that look like a small version of SXSW, but instead of the corporate production, the happenings are produced by local creative companies, groups, and other non-profit groups and led by the Nomadx Foundation’s core team. The in-person events take place in multiple spaces; there are creative panels, workshops, keynote conversations, a creative demonstration fair, live art, and great concerts. All the Nomadx Foundation’s events are either free or extremely inexpensive to attendees.

There have been 17 live in-person events with local creative companies, artists, and even some of the world’s most inspiring minds. Since 2015, thought-leaders like Steve Wozniak, Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Bjarke Ingels, and Doug Ellin have enhanced the Nomadx stages, sharing their experience with local creative communities and giving back to the creatives of the future.

SOME PAST SUMMITS

Nomadx Events have creative products at heart, are organic/collaborative, and offer a space that is inclusive, accessible, and with sharing as the key value. To optimize, we use spaces that are within walking distance and have some sort of infrastructure for audiences like nightclubs, coffee shops, restaurants, event spaces, bars, and galleries.

Nomadx has the vision of a world where people unite around creative products, notwithstanding race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or economic disparity.

RELIVE THE NOMADX SUMMIT AUSTIN 2023

Our 17th Nomadx Summit was held in Austin this past December 1st and 2nd, and as always, we had an amazing time. We came together in our grassroots experience to share our thoughts and experiences, showing our Austin community how creative professionals from all walks of life are united on our shared path.

We would like to thank the amazing clash of ideas that occurred between production greats such as Stuart Sullivan (Sublime, Meat Puppets, Willie Nelson) and Charles Godfrey (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Zoe, The Black Angels...), TV legends like Danny Zuker (Modern Family, Roseanne, Just Shoot Me), critical thinker Diego Ruzzarin, content creators from all walks like David Cohen and Humberto Gutierrez, and the many others who joined in sharing. You can watch the aftermovie, the individual panels, and read about the learnings we took away.

"NomadX is one of the most beautiful things in the world, that sucess people as myself wish they had done..."

-Steve Wozniak

VALUES AT NOMADX EVENTS

SHARE

Sharing is a word that sometimes may be overlooked, embedded in our DNA. Form a very young age, we are told that sharing is good, but as the ego sets in we tend to lose connection to this basic principle.

Because of the problems creatives face to thrive, the ego takes a powerful spot in the life of a creative. We defend our craft, intellectual capital, and creation with ego, and in many cases, we tend to keep the "secret sauce" to ourselves because we fear losing what we've accomplished.

At NomadX events, sharing is a key value, sharing the "secret sauce:, sharing the truth, the good, the bad. We know that by sharing fully we are not just empowering individuals, but our entire ecosystem grows together.

LISTEN

Narrator: When people think you're dying, they really, really listen to you, instead of just...

Marla Singer: - instead of just waiting for their turn to speak?

-Marla Singer, The Narrator. Fight Club

Listening, really listening is a practice that is losing ground continuously. Really paying attention to what someone has to say, holding back judgment, biases, titles, and just listening.

At the Nomadx Foundation's events, we pride in selecting some of the best local, regional, national, and international creative talent, stories that have made a difference.

We try to instill the, in the end self-serving, value of listening and taking from a creative's experience to one's personal endeavor, no matter if it is shared from the stage, the creative market, or in a conversation with a new acquaintance.

DETACH

Detachment is the most difficult value to uphold and teach because it goes against everything popular culture tells us. Creatives have a blessing and a curse; the curse is that we are not respected and don't understand ourselves.

The blessing, on the other hand, is that we know what makes us happy. For any creative, to be able to plan a worthy life 1, 5, or 10 years in advance while developing our craft, would be a true gift. Fighting for that cause, detachment from the clutter and noise, and focusing on the craft that makes us happy.
